Reporting to the Procurement Manager the role of Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer is to provide Quality Engineering support to suppliers and subcontractors in addition to the manufacturing departments within Airborne Systems Ltd.

OVERVIEW OF ROLE

Reporting to the Procurement Manager the role of Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer is to provide Quality Engineering support to suppliers and subcontractors in addition to the manufacturing departments within Airborne Systems Ltd. They will be required to provide expertise in quality tools and techniques to suppliers and where necessary, internally and confidently audit with respect to industry standards ISO 9001, AS9100 and customer requirements.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supplier Approval, by audit and data analysis
  • Lead problem solving activity ideally using 8D, 5 Why and Six sigma
  • Lead and Support failure investigations
  • Participate in various continuous improvement initiatives
  • Co-ordination of all supplier non-conformances (SNC / SCAR)
  • Carry out specific process audits to investigate failures
  • Maintain a robust supplier development programme
  • Support internal audits when required for example 3rd party audits
  • Develop good working relationships throughout the internal and external supply chain.
  • Report the performance of Supplier and subcontractor performance
  • Support Goods inward inspection as required

 

INTRINSIC SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Demonstrable understanding and expertise in the use of quality tools SPC, 8D, 5 Why and Six sigma (desirable)
  • Problem solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
  • An achiever, able to co-ordinate and lead small groups to solve quality issues to their conclusion
  • Capable of working in a multi- disciplined team and carrying out a variety of required tasks
  • Effective communicator, confident in the delivery of presentations to the team, board members and external parties
  • Able to represent the company in a professional manner
  • Experience of conflict and crisis management
  • Able to work independently
  • Proven track record in working with and developing subcontractors and suppliers

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Engineering related subject or able to demonstrate a proven track record with relevant experience
  • Good technical and analytical skills
  • Experience in the implementation of quality systems
  • Good understanding of purchasing requirements and techniques

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS

  • The ability to speak a foreign language would also be desirable but is not essential
