Distribution Coordinator [Ref. AS0000-020]
Reporting to the Section Leader, the role of the Distribution Coordinator is to take responsibility for the smooth operation of all areas associated with goods distribution specifically; all aspects of material movement and control, receipt and preparation of goods for dispatch, control of subcontracted material, correct issue of kits into production, training others within the remit of the various functions covered by this role. The role may require additional tasks associated with this function, in line with potential business / customer requirements.

OVERVIEW OF ROLE

Reporting to the Section Leader, the role of the Distribution Coordinator is to take responsibility for the smooth operation of all areas associated with goods distribution specifically; all aspects of material movement and control, receipt and preparation of goods for dispatch, control of subcontracted material, correct issue of kits into production, training others within the remit of the various functions covered by this role. The role may require additional tasks associated with this function, in line with potential business / customer requirements.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Compile correct paperwork relevant to deliveries and Despatches into and out of the business and ensure correct controls are in place and monitored effectively
  • Packing goods in strict accordance with internal and external packing requirements as stipulated by ASE and Customer Requirements
  • Arrange suitable transport in line with budget requirements to ensure on time customer delivery.
  • Issue of work stock parts to shop floor.
  • Ensure all transactions are completed in Syspro both accurately and in a timely manner
  • Carry out accurate stock checks in accordance with company requirements
  • Correctly book material into the business via the business system
  • Ensure accuracy of stock levels on a daily basis
  • Assemble materials required by production from the warehouse in line the production start dates, using correct equipment where necessary
  • Ensure that all material shortages are controlled and issued in line with the stores procedures
  • Ensure substandard materials rejected from shop floor and returned to supplier (RTV) are processed in line with quality procedures
  • Ensure relevant documentation is maintained in relation to stock movements
  • Ensure any movement of material required by the business is done in a controlled manner
  • Loading and unloading of vehicles
  • Correctly inputting computer data
  • Ensure high standards of house- keeping
  • Work to health & safety requirements at all times
  • Any ad hoc tasks as requested by the Section Leader / Manufacturing Managers

 

INTRINSIC SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to work unsupervised and prioritise own workload
  • Attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively control both inward and outward stock movement whilst maintaining accuracy and integrity of the warehouse inventory records. Including all associated documentation and record keeping for accounting purposes
  • Demonstrate a safe work environment and work practises at all times in line with company procedures
  • Ability to work calmly and accurately under pressure whilst dealing

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Computer literacy sufficient to operate internal systems related to the role
  • Accurate numeracy skills
  • Good literacy skills

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS

  • NVQ in warehouse operations or equivalent
  • Can demonstrate 3 years (plus) general warehouse experience
  • Can demonstrate basic IT skills including excel, outlook, word and access
  • Forklift license
  • Knowledge of MoD packaging standards

physical considerations

  • Ability to lift a minimum 5kg on a regular basis, ensuring adherence Health& Safety / manual lifting requirements
  • Ability to load and unload lorries, using correct equipment where necessary
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time

Project Engineers develop and apply today’s technology, managing and maintaining the application of current and developing engineering practices. With their detailed knowledge and understanding of current engineering technologies, they possess the skills and know-how to make things happen and play a key role in the successful delivery of projects. They have a detailed understanding of their recognised field of expertise and exercise independent judgment and management in the delivery of the allocated tasks across the full project lifecycle.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

To deliver tasks allocated by Engineering Managers and Senior Engineers to the required time, cost, quality and scope:
Tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Innovative design of novel solutions
  • Verification, validation (including conduct of trials)
  • Preparation of design documentation
  • Changes to drawings, material and constructional specifications
  • Providing support for the completion of BIDS
  • To actively and positively contribute to the design and development of new products / services
  • To support other departments in the successful delivery of existing products / services.
  • To manage own workload and the expectations of line manager, peers, internal and external stakeholders
  • To comply with company policies and procedures
  • To operate with integrity and be professional at all times, recognising their obligations to meet regulatory requirements (particularly safety within design)
  • To proactively support continuous change programmes, identify and recommend process / operational improvements

 

INTRINSIC SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Have a detailed understanding of their recognised field of expertise and exercise independent judgement and management in the delivery of the allocated tasks across the full project lifecycle.
  • Produce high quality documentation in accordance with company processes and procedures. Suggesting continuous improvement where appropriate.
  • Understand how to tailor the work required to achieve a task within the constraints of company and customer requirements. Know how to deliver work efficiently in a controlled and structured way.
  • Proactive in the design and development of new/modified products and services.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Engineering Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; or Work-based technical knowledge and understanding, assessed as equivalent to the Formal Qualification.
